Background

You don't have to be an ardent supporter of environmental law to see the fundamental flaws in the engineering plans for the Lakeside development. Specifically, the plans never accounted for adequate wastewater management!

Rauch Inc., a consulting firm, and large out-of-state developer, Rocks Engineering, are laying the foundation for a large community of homes without adequate sewer resources. The Lakeside project as intended will more than double the population of the small Eastern Shore town, Trappe. This goes to show the impact Lakeside will have on already over capacity wastewater system.

Responsibility

The front lake is brown, discolored and surrounded by clay construction mud.
The main entrance has concrete slaps stacked and constuction debris strewn about.

Yes, over capacity waste is to be sprayed on local fields. Up to 540,000 gallons per day of treated wastewater (source). These septic fields adjoin rivers in the Chesapeake Bay watershed and pose a significant threat to the fishing and crabbing industry. (Not to mention the quality of Marylander's local seafood.)

This county problem will have a direct impact on all Marylanders and Virginians.

Democrat and Republican. Pro business and pro green all agree these are poorly laid plans.

This is not only a local problem, it is a problem which will have a direct impact on all Marylanders and Virginians.
